It is so neat that there is now a photo of him in his patrol uniform. I wish we knew more about him. He is my grandfather. My mother is the 5 month old child referenced in the notice.

Trooper Howard James was my father's firs cousin. My Dad shared several stories about him and how was killed while leading a military convoy.

While going through some old photographs, my daughter discovery a photograph of Howard James in his brand new uniform. It appears, from the photo, that if he was commissioned, at the time, he had not received his badge or his service revolver.

He was, as my Dad referenced, a handsome young man.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
