Reflections for Patrolman Lloyd Innes
I am the son of Transit Police Captain William Bell who passed away in 2002 at age 84 yrs old. I was in the Army in 1967 when Ptl. Innes was murdered. My father was a lieutenant and the executive officer of the transit police academy at that time, however, from 1950 until 1966, he was in uniform as a patrolman and then sergeant I will never forget how distraught and angry and broken hearted my father was that one of his beloved officers was killed by such an animal. I am not such a computer guy so it's taken a while to get to here but I have done a bit of writing and never understood why Ptl Innes's story was never a major book or movie to truly depict the real line between good and bad. Ptl. Innes gave his life for law and order and a better world for all Americans. My father was a man of great character and Ptl. Innes was a hero to my father. I hope this message finds its way to a family member who will let all who loved Ptl. Innes know that he is not forgotten and still respected admired and missed in a world so in need of real heroes. p.s. my Dad's badge #443.

Patrolman Innes, the Transit Police is part of history and you are a sad part of that history. Though it isn't listed here, I feel your killer faced true justice for his vicious deplorable acts, if not in this life, then in the next.
You are a martyr for your sacrifice, but a hero for your life. Though 1967 is far behind us, on this anniversary of your death, no doubt your family, and all who knew and loved you, still feel pain, they are in my prayers.
God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

I said a little prayer today for Patrolman Innes and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.

Ptlm. Innes,
Thank you for your service to the citizens of this Country. It's a shame that this subject was even out of jail to commit this horrid act. He will have to answer to a higher power now. You are a true hero and my sincere condolences go out to your family. Rest easy sir, you will not be forgotten.

A Million Times
A million times we've needed you,
A million times we've cried.
If love alone could've saved you,
You would have never died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,
No one else could ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone.
Part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.

~~~~~The Broken Chain~~~~~
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.~~In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.~~It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.~~You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.~~Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain will link again.
Your memory will always be carried on with the dignity and respect for their is no greater love than to sacrifice one's life for your fellow brothers and sisters. The members of the NYC Transit Police Memorial Lodge #317 are proud and honored to call you one of our own.
