This May it will have been 50 years since Jerry was killed yet memories of him are alive. Jerry lived directly across Ildereen from us and my sister Patty and I played with Jerry and the other kids in that neighborhood almost every day until we moved to South Kings in about 1949. We all attended Sunshine Elementary together and later Jarrett Jr. High and then Parkview. I was overseas in 1968 when Jerry was killed but Mom sent me the newspaper clipping about it. I was shocked as were so many. Life is so strange. See ya around, Jerry.

I remember Deputy Inman very well. I was 11 yrs old and had a huge crush on him. He rode with my dad for awhile when he started in training. He came to our house when we lived out Old Cherry Street Rd by McGraws Cemetery to eat supper with us. I sat right next to him thinking he was the Bomb. I have original picture of the picture on here along with the article. He has forever lived in my heart. I still think of him often.

I grew up with Jerry Inman as one of my brother's close friends....he lived up the street from us, and my brother and I also took piano lessons from Jewel, Jerry's mom....they were a wonderful family.....Jerry, David Adams and my brother ran all over the neighborhood playing army....chasing each other, climbing trees....such a different world then, and a wonderful place in time...a generation of innocence. They showed me how to climb a tree and I thought "hey"...this is fun"........then they ran off an left me up there.....Then we all grew up. Jerry went into the military; so did my brother.......David became a professor at SMSU.........times changed. My last memory of Jerry is when my husband and I flew back home and Jerry came down to see us......he spoke of being on the Sheriff's Department then and glad to be home again after serving in the military....My husband was very impressed meeting and talking with Jerry and told me what a fine man he was....and I told him, "but....he left me up in a tree when we were kids !!"......I still laugh at that and hold so dear the wonderful memories of such a good friend. I will never forget the day my brother called me in tears, not long after we returned to California, telling me Jerry had been shot and killed...I still carry the hurt inside. My brother went up and mowed Jewel's lawn for her and her tears never stopped...I just can't imagine her pain..........Jerry was truly a very special man. If you met him, you never forgot him....

Jerry's mother Jewell Inman was my piano teacher for years so I got to know Jerry quite well. He was young athletic and her only child. I was so touched by his mother who had found out that in the occurrence that killed Jerry his perpetrator lost his shoes and she took some of Jerry's shoes to the jail or to give to him. They were a wonderful Christian family and I was proud to have been his friend. Rest in peace Jerry and Jewell, I am glad that you are together again!

Jerry Inman was my best friend, we went to school together and was very close. I found out about the shooting as I was returning home after a night of fishing, from my truck radio. Needless to say it shook me to the core. Jerry was in every way a gentleman, and a very close friend. I still miss him to this very day (07/15/09. Another Friend Bill Oliver, who spent time on the Green County Sherrifs Dept. His Grandfather Tony Oliver was killed in a shootout west of Springfield. My heart goes out to every family who has had a family member killed in action. AS well as our troops also.
