Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Alan M. Hultgren

Al, 39 years ago today you were taken from us in what was a horrible accident while responding to help others. That night, waiting for your shift to end and you to join us for a night out with friends turned into the worst night of many of our lives.
You were always a professional and had a strong desire to help the upriver community and did the job well.
I think the only dissenters you had were the fish in the rivers. I always enjoyed working and socializing with you and will never forget the friendship we shared. Please know that you impacted my life as well as a long career in law enforcement. You're the best, my friend.

State of WA./King County SO/Concrete PD

Thank you for your service and rest in peace always knowing that your sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren.

My dear Alan, remember when we talked a long time ago when you were first hired? well I do. I asked you what you wanted for the future of being a deputy. You told me that you wanted to leave your mark on this world when you were gone. Well.....it happened my love. Sometime this Summer a part of Hwy 20 will be named in your memory from milepost 90 to milepost 105. It will be known as Deputy Alan Hultgren Memorial Hwy. There will be a portion of I-5 memorialized for Trooper Hendrickson also. You do know that I will always love you and I miss you every single day. Looking forward to the day that I will see you again. Beetle.

36 years ago today. Still miss you so much! Think of you every single day Alan. I wish you were here with me. It's hard some days to keep going but I do. I know that some day I will see you and be able to hold you once again in my arms. I connected with some of the deputies and it has been a great help. No one will ever forget you my love. Love you forever and a day.

Thinking of you lately. Well...every single day as a matter of fact! Always get emotional around this time of year too. National Law Enforcement Week is coming up and think of you and all of the fallen officers. It's very hard because I see all the guys and gals from the Sheriff's Office and memories come flooding back. After this long, sometimes I wish it didn't seem like yesterday. I love you forever and a day and that will always stay the same. Our extra kid (Mike Don) and his fellow officers from Mount Vernon PD and Burlington PD all received Medal of Honors recently. So very proud of them and their courageous service. Worry about all of them every day. Alan, please watch over them.....Love and Miss you.

I think of you frequently Al. The times we worked together, fished and enjoyed the upper Skagit and all the good times, BS fish stories etc.
I will never forget the night you were taken from Sherry and our community. Seeing you speed by on a call and a short time later Trooper Ray walking through the parking lot and into the location where Sherry, Sally and I were enjoying a night out awaiting the end of your shift to join us was devastating and something I will never forget.
You will always be remembered my friend. My youngest son has your name and knows of you and our friendship. He is an Everett officer and I often think of you when I see him.
You are always remembered,
Marc

Its been 35 years already. Miss you so much. You already know that though. Too many senseless deaths for this year alone. I wish sometimes I could turn back the clock and have a lot more time with you. I guess that wasn't meant to be Alan...........

It's Veteran's Day 2015 and I still remember the day you told me that you were enlisting into the Army. You took me for a walk on the field by our apartment in Everett. When you told me all I could do was turn around and run to the apartment. I didn't want to loose you right when I got you! I am very proud that you served our Country so we all could be free. Buth you didn't stop there.......Becoming a Deputy continued the service to keep us safe. I love and miss you every single day and try to keep your memory alive. Thank you Alan.

My Precious Alan,
Another year.......Miss you so much. Every day without you seems like it happened yesterday. I took flowers to the Sheriff's Office on the 7th. Same bouquet....5 white roses and 1 red rose for all the dispatchers and you. Also put a rose outside for you and Ann Jackson. Please watch over Trooper Detective Brent Hanger's family as he died while on duty a couple of days ago. Talked with Boots today. Will talk more. Trying to get in touch with the rest of your family. Just found out today that Marlo died last year. Hope you two are having a wonderful time together. You know that I will love you forever and a day, always.
Love you,
Beetle

I didn't know my Uncle Alan well, as he was adopted out of our family as a toddler. My mom, as well as all of the other siblings were devastated when they lost him after just finding him. It is so nice to see this memorial in his honor.

Thinking about you as I watch 2 WSP fly by on the freeway with lights flashing and sirens blaring.....going to an accident? I look up and immediately think of you as you sped by that night to respond to an accident. You never got there. I will always remember that image. I love and miss you every day that goes by. Please watch over all the men and women that protect us every day. Love you forever and a day.

My Darling Alan,
There are moments in life when you wish you could bring someone down from Heaven. Spend the day with them just one more time, give them one more hug, kiss them goodbye or hear their voice again. One more chance to say I LOVE you.

I miss you always and forever
