To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 82nd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
How proud you must be to have your family members continue your legacy of protecting and serving.

He was my great grandfather, and a hero to the Howie and later, Smith families...I followed in his footsteps in law enforcement, as several of our family members have. Later generations who never knew him have always been educated about his sacrifice so he will not be forgotten.

Officer Howie,
On today, the 76th anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Big Spring. I think it was a travesty of justice that your murderer was only sentenced to 4 years in prison and then had his sentence suspended. I hope that the judge who made that decision is in the same place as the scumbag who murdered you.
