Reflections for Sergeant Joseph Pierce Horne

Sgt. Joseph Horne served with my dad in the1940s. He was killed when I was almost three; although I don’t remember him, I heard much about him as a child. May he and his family continue to rest in peace! Mary Mays Via, Charles Town, WV

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 67th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Sgt. Horne we thank you for the sacrifice you have made. Rest in peace knowing that we will continue on and help keep the reputation that you helped to build. You have not been forgotten. We have recently put up a memorial in front of the court house in Mineral County, listing all of our fallen heros. As long as this Department is around you shall live on.
