I just came upon an old photo of Antonio, and I immediately became angry and sad. Such a funny guy, and a nice human being. I worked with Antonio Terry at the Nordstrom Distribution Center in Tukwila (DC99), in the early 90's. In my photo, he was dressed in "drag" in a red sparkly dress, and if you are familiar with Flip Wilson, he was in character as hooker "Geraldine", and he was gorgeous!, heels, included! When he left, we were told that he had moved to California to become a police officer. Then, later, as I was home watching the news on that horrible day, I cried for him and his family, knowing that he had died trying to be the helpful person we all knew him to be. I am very thankful that they were caught, but still, no justice for his wife and children, and he was far too young, but doing what he had wanted to do, to serve the people who needed him. I still see his smile to this day. RIP!

Still thinking about you Antonio. Decided to google your name and this page opened up. I remember riding with Edwin as they closed down I-5 for your funeral motorcade. Such a sad day! Your act of kindness ending so terribly. I wish the people who did this to you got life not just 20! Glad to read Cheryl and their sons have done well.

He was my friend like a brother to me before he became a cop. Miss this man so much. He was a jokester, kind hearted, and was a great guy. Think about him a lot. We all miss you Antonio more than you can imagine. He lived in the Bay Area for awhile and this is how my family and I met him while being a manager at Nordstrom. He was a great man.

I still remember you and Cheryl walking in at the maternity class for the first time. You with your shiny black shoes and creased trousers. You were a "S. O." I still remember calling south station after hearing about you on the news. I still remember calling Cheryl. I will always remember YOU!! You will not be not forgotten.

Wow Detective Antonio Martinez Terry, my friend. You are so missed and thought of. When I think of you, a smile comes on my face. I met Antonio when he hired my two sisters and I all on the same day. A manager at Nordstrom D.C., in Newark, Ca. There was an instant bond we all formed with Antonio. He was part of our family. You could always count on him. He was the truest of all men I have ever known. When he told us he was moving and going back to Spokane to join the police academy we were in shock. Couldn't believe our friend, our brother was going to be a police officer. I remember him telling us he was going to be a detective working in narcotics. Its ashamed that his life was taken that way. My friend didn't deserve to be taken out the way they did him. It doesn't surprise me that he made it to the nearest station and to be able to describe who did this to him. On the day of your funeral Antonio I was so impressed on how many people lives you touched. They city streets were packed with people. People standing on overpasses to wave good bye. Thank You for being apart of my family's life. I miss you all the time. You are always thought of. It was truly an honor to call you my friend. Rest in Love Antonio.

AT, it is my first visit to your page, however, not the first visit in thought and prayer. As others have posted, I miss you and think of you often....I too pass the location on the off ramp where you encountered the evil that we as police officers continue to fight, everyday. I pray for you and your family that was left to go on in life without you.

I speak of you often and tell the story of your incident to our new officers, so they understand the courage and strength you displayed that night.

As for many, 19 years ago on that night my life changed. You will never be forgotten.

Please introduce yourself to my cousin, Detective John R. Smith, Bastrop Police Department. His final call was on August 10, 2007. I'm sure you all have bumped into each other in Heaven while walking the beat.....now you know.

I'll continue to pray for you and your family, please continue to watch over us.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 18th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your friends for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections.

I was a classmate of Tony's Sister Monika (RIP), and I am saddened by the tremendous loss that this family has suffered. I remember reading Monika's obit, and feeling that one person didn't deserve such loss in a lifetime, let alone the family members that these two siblings have left behind. My sincere condolenes and deepest sympathies are extended to the Terry Family. I didn't know Detective Terry, as I lived out of state when he was tragically killed, but I thank him and his family for their service and sacrifice for the good of our community. I read your story today. I saddens me to know how senseless your life was taken away by the suspects. You did a valuable service to the community and it was well respected. But Yahweh, the Creator, will reward you in the next life with him son of God. Shalom.
