Patrolman Hight,
On today, the 55th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a LEO but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during WW II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

The ceremony was poignant and celebratory of a short life, lived with honor and valor. He left a young son and wife doing what he loved - serving his fellow man. The Commissioner told a personal recollection which made us laugh and gave life to the moment. Seeing so many state troopers gather to honor their fallen brother, their cars lined up one behind the other, the American flag brought to colors and pledge of allegiance "under God" reminded us that FREEDOM IS NOT FREE and how far we have come since our brother Hight died in 1962 in loss of our moral compass. May God Bless America and may He help us to re-gain our way back to Him. Thank you for your service, past, present and future.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the forty-seventh anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
