Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and thirty-seventh anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Special Deputy Hicks,

your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

November 29, 2005

This was the deadliest day in the history of our nations oldest federal law enforcement agency, the United States Marshals Service, which was created in 1789. The Marshals suffered America's the first line of duty death for a peace officer and it continues to suffer as deputies pay the ultimate price protecting the integrity of the federal judicial system and defending democracy. Your death is remembered as a selfless sacrifice protecting our great nation. Thank you for your service compadre. We are carring the torch you passed so many years ago and because of your efforts America's Star continues to shine.
