Deputy Sheriff Hensley,
On today, the 70th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the KYARNG. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Robert Hensley was my great-grandfather. As my mother tells it, my great-grandfather had wanted to retire, but instead accepted the position of "high sheriff", being told that he would not have to go out on calls. Around a month later, officer Taylor came to his home and asked him to help out on a call. He and Clarence Taylor went together to investigate the accident. As they got out of the car and walked around in front of the headlights, they were "shot by A Gabbard man, his son , and a Baker man". My mother still speaks of him today with tears in her eyes. Though he may be gone, he is definantly not forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 58th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
