Thank you for all your nice comments. He left 5 wonderful children, whom I have the privilege of knowing them all very well. He has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. It is unfortunate that his murderer is out on parole. May he and all the fallen officers rest in peace. Godspeed to them and their families they left behind.

On the anniversary of his death, we pause to honor and remember Officer Loyd Hays.
It's a shame that our state had such weak laws and leaders to allow this officer's killer to get out of prison and walk the streets after serving only 15yrs for such a brutal and heinous murder. We're thankful society puts more value on the life of an officer today than back then, but that doesn't excuse such leniency. Our "system" made his family victims a second time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of his surving family members.
He will never be forgotten.

Officer Hays,
On today, the 42nd anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Alabama. It's a real miscarriage of justice that your murderer escaped the death penalty and then only served fifteen years of what was supposed to be a life sentence.

Rest in peace brave warrior, your courage on this day was incredible.
You are not forgotten and the only death penalty that's unconstitutional is the one that is imposed on victims of homicide by their cowardly killers.

I can not believe the miscarrage of justice with the individual that brought so much pain and suffering to your family and friends. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten.
