Reflections for Police Officer Herbert Hatcher

Rest in peace Officer Hatcher. Killed by another officer's gun by his deranged son. Pathetically sad!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 73rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

You were killed by a teen killer, age seventeen. Decades later I speak out in opposition to proposed legislation in California that would allow 16 and 17 year old murderers who were sentenced to life without possibility of murder "second chances" to have multiple hearings for sentence reductions. One only has to look at odmp memorial pages to see that teen killers are nothing new. This depravity exited then and exists now and the punishment should be based on the severity of the crime, and not because the murderous thug was seventeen.
Rest In Peace
