I was a 5 or 6 when this happened. I do remember the coverage it wouldn't be until I was a teen to be introduced to his daughter which I didn't know it was his daughter until 30years later. We will never know your influence that you would have had.

I am just learning of Lemon's passing. My sincere regards to his family. Lemon and I were math majors at FAMU. He was a top math student. Brilliant. He was the think tank type. I am surprised to find out that he was in law enforcement. Lemon was my friend. He was humorous. He was kind and enjoy being around everybody. We had a great time on The Hill. God bless his family and lemon.....RIP.

I pray for you every night! I was a Hillsborough deputy too and shot Jorge bello Garcia in the face/head. He already murdered his wife and was headed to kill firefighters that night! God bless the men and women in uniform. Police and/or firefighters! ;-)

My prayers are with you and the rest of your family. My mother knew your father she worked for HCSO as well. I hate for our connection to based on two tragedies connected in twisted fate, but I am sure you will continue to honor your father as will I. Sending you years of prayers and hugs.

I didn't know you Deputy Corporal Harvey, but, I can sense in the statements of your kids, Cory and Lisa, that you were and still are definitely someone very special....a great man and greater father. My guess is that you were a darn good cop too! Thank you for all you did...for your sacrifice. We will continue to carry the torch you handed to us.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Valiant Hero know this,
For 8 years you served, protected, and vanguished evil.
You touched peoples lives and you saved lives.
You made a difference and now you serve again and walk a different beat with the Lord at your side.
You are gone from this earth but you are not forgotten, you live on and are immortal through your children.
Rest easy Hero.

Retired Police Officer.
