The Sheriffs of Florida and their deputies will never forget the sacrifice you and your family made to uphold our laws and protect society.

Your name has been inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs and the National Law Enforcement Memorial and in our hearts. May you forever rest in peace.

A scripture inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs Law Enforcement Memorial:

"Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called the children
of God." Matthew 5:9

My name is Ervin Fowler. My mother, Agnes Ham, was a Ham by birth but raised by Dave and Lucy Ham from the age of 8. She was 17 when Dave was killed and I also consider Dave my grandfather. Thanks Dave for keeping my mother safe so I could be here with my siblings researching family history.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 80th anniversary year of your death. I am privileged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

To the Hamm family, time does not heal the pain it just makes it easier to get up everyday and move forward. We will never forget your hero. God bless.

My name is Leonard Dave Hamm, and Deputy Sheriff Dave Hamm was my grandfather and namesake. My father Leonard Hamm (now deceased) related several stories of my grandfather which he was able to remember from a very early age. The picture of Deputy Hamm on this site, is the only picture of my namesake that I own. My father told me he remembered the day this picture was taken when he gave me the copy of this picture that I now own. My father grandmother and grandfather were returning by automobile from Apalatchicola, and stopped on a bridge in the area where this picture was taken. I do not know much about my grandfather's life, but he did raise one of the finest men I have ever met in my life... his son Leonard Hamm.
