My name is Diana lou, was named after guess who? this is my Great Gpa we never met but i know him from the large photo on our wall of him on his horse as i was growing up , and the photos we used to look at too bad after he passed other members took control of them and we never saw them again but my Dad had so much respect and love for him i loved him as well because of the stories i heard, my Dad followed in his footsteps for sure, he rescued me from a horrible childhood i remember calling him one day when i couldn't take anymore, he said i'll be there this weekend, have your stuff ready, and i did. No regrets ever... he was the best MaPa i could have asked for and getting me thru high school years was quite a task but he did it with love and patience, i miss him dearly every day and have been the kind of Mom he was to me to my 2 Sheree and Joseph, Sher still has her bunny from gpa when she was 2 i wish he was around longer to meet Joseph in person but am sure they've met anyway. Now i have 2 great kids who i love more than anything and i know he and gpa are happy to see these pics. and memories i know they can see them from where they are <3

I wish there was a way for me to post the pictures that I have of Crit. He was my great grandfather and when Anna Lou passed I took most of the pictures she had of him. I have even had the pleasure of firing one of his competition Smith & Wesson air weight .38 revolvers that my mother has. It's very neat to see these comments.

I never had the honor of meeting Grampa Crit, but on a visit I made to West Virginia in 1972 I went to the the police stations where he had served and I was treated like royalty by the Officers who had served with Crit Hall. I was shown the trophy's and medals he had won during his time in service several picture's of him and the current Governors of West Virginia.

Over the I have heard the stories from my father Edwin "Carl" Hall, Uncle Crit Hall Jr. and Aunt Anna Lou Jones. And from what I gather is that grampa was a true American hero a real Man's Man.

Grandpa Crit spent almost 40 years being in the Police department. He started in 1921 I believe. He had several glass cases of Trophies for sharp shooter and 3 governors trophies for sharpshooter and got to keep the trophy on the third time. One journalist in an article said he had a 3'x3' piece of material that was completely covered with medals . And that was not all that he had. They had so many that they quit counting..
He was a good man and a good policeman loved and missed by many.

I am also one of your grandaughters. We met when I was about 1954. We all met at a farm and spent the night. The next day we all went to a funeral. Jim, Bobbie , Kay, Mom and me (Sue) and two other men I think may have been Grandpas brothers/1/2 brothers. I have a picture of that time. I also have a picture of you one of your trophy and medal case with Mom and Annalou standing in front of it. I( have always thought alot about you. Even when us kids were all around you fighting for rights to be close or near you, you were very gentle when speaking to us. Love and miss you.. I have a couple of pictures of Crit , your son and a picture Crit , your Grandson Sue Hillyard-Wait. Will share with Family.
