I worked with Jim in Perry County and he was a great guy and always had our backs. I was on scene the evening of the shooting and I just couldn't believe it that this happened to Jim. He was always so careful and went by the book. This is one of those incidents where my eyes will forget what they seen, but it will always be in my mind . Rest in Peace my Brother as you may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice.........

I remember going to a class years ago at the academy in Jeff City and talking with at lunch every day I was there. He was a very nice man and loved what he was doing.

I remember the day this happened, so sad. Trooper Froemsdorf was a good person, a good trooper and respected by so many. I also remember the group of Perryville area bikers that came to his funeral to show their respects, not something you normally see. It's a shame people like this are taken away from us so prematurely.

31 years ago, this nation lost a fine trooper. You were killed in a senseless manner, and you will never be forgotten. RIP, brother.

Although it's been a little over 25 years ago, I still hurt just as though it was yesterday. Your daughters are now beautiful and successful women who are blessed with your wonderful grandchildren. The last time I seen Amy, I thought she had a strong resemblance to your facial features and she definitely has your smile!

Reflecting back on all the jokes we played on each other, I wish I would have taken the time to tell you I love you like a brother. I walk with you in my heart each day of my life and always will.

I had the privilege of reading about you in a very fine book dedicated to US Officers and am honoured to share the same vocation, (even all the way down here in Aust.) as brave Warriors like yourself. And after 20 years in the 'Job' nothing ever ceases to amaze me.
They say time heals all wounds - but the taking of a Hero from this earth, I feel, is as raw now as it would have been those many years ago.
Never forgotten brave troop.
I hope your family and friends still stand tall and proud.
May God bless and continue to watch over you all.

Trooper Froemsdorf,
On today, the 23rd anniversary of your murder, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Missouri. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. It took another 16 years, but your murderer finally got the justice that he deserved.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

You are not forgotten. A few years ago I had the pleasure of listening to your wife speak during Victims Week at the Charleston Prison. I applauded her decision to speak out for victims and their families. She is a lady of strength and courage...your memorial still stands on the side of the interstate..each time I pass it I say a prayer for you and your family and give you a quick salute...Hats off to our men in blue and may GOD protect all of those that serve...GOD BLESS you and your family. Standing on his promise.
