Officer Freytag,
On today, the 52nd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Rochester. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. I can't help but agree with some of the previous reflections left for Officer Freytag about the $50.00 fine being the only punishment for the driver.

As the grandson of Officer Freytag he was killed long before I was born. He and I do share a name so I assure you his sacrifice is not forgotten. His wife passed earlier this year, she was in her early 90's. Raising 5 children by herself was a burden at times, but she never stopped being his wife and continued to speak of him right up to the end. They are together again now in a better place.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fifty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

The $50. fine is unbelievable, even in 1961. That is a slap in the face to Officer Freytag, his family, department, and the citizens of Minnesota! Sir, thank you for your sacrifice and dedication.

Officer Freytag:

Continue to rest in peace-you are not forgotten and I want to thank you for your service.

Retired Rochester PD

Being a Reserve Deputy myself, reading of your death, and the insanely small punishment to the suspect of a $50 fine only hardens my resolve to be there for the Citizens of the Communities I volunteer for, and to carry on giving without charge to do my part for the people of Minnesota, just as you did. Continue to rest in Peace. God bless your family who obviously allows you to live on.

As the daughter of Officer Freytag I want to thank those who have reflected on his life. He is missed very much. To all law enforcement officers out there, please return safely to your families and give your children an extra hug in memory of those my father couldn't give his children.
