Inscribed on Marshal Forsyth's tombstone:

Sacred to the memory of Robert Forsyth, Federal Marshall of Georgia, who in discharge of the duties of his office, fell victim to the respect of the laws of his country and his resolution in support of them. on the 11th of January
1794 in his 40th year of his age.

Marshall Forsyth died in the line of duty on 11 Jan 1794 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.

He is buried in St Paul's Church St Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery (Church established/built in 1750 near Fort Augusta).

Marshall Forsyth and his wife had at least three sons.
