The Sheriffs of Florida and their deputies will never forget the sacrifice you and your family made to uphold our laws and protect society.

Your name has been inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs and the National Law Enforcement Memorial and in our hearts. May you forever rest in peace.

A scripture inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs Law Enforcement Memorial:

"Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called the children
of God." Matthew 5:9

He was my dad and my hero. Always proud to be called his daughter. He left footprints of goodness and service to others on my heart. Anyone who knew him knows what a good man he was, kind and caring. I still miss him even after all these years later. I know he is watching over me and my kids, he is our guardian angel in heaven.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 47th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

I went to palm beach high school with Jim. I lived down the street from he and his wife in 1962 and 1963. We had dinner at his house and they would come over to our house, He taught me how to make the best corn on the cob. He said to wait until the water boiled put the corn in the pot and cook for exactly three minutes. When he had his accident trying to help someone else, I walked out of the house and went to where my husband worked to tell him. we were both devastated. seeing his picture made me cry all over again. He was just a wonderful, caring person.

Growing up I heard stories of your bravery from my great Uncle Lester (Your father in law). It was those stories and the look of pride in his eyes that led me into Law Enforcement. I hope that when my time as a Police Officer is over people speak of me with the same pride as Uncle Lester did of you. Thank you for your sacrafice.

I never had a chance to meet you but my mother says we are a lot alike. I am proud to tell others of the legacy you left behind and I am proud that you are my grandfather and maybe some of the qualities that made you a great man and a hero, live on in me.

You will always be remembered, Love Darren.
