My great uncle was a Chicago Park Police District Police Officer. My father was a Chief of Police. I'm a retired San Francisco Police Officer. I understand the sacrifice Officer Finnegan made. I learned of his murder after moving back home to Chicago. He died at the hands of my great grandmother's nephew Richard Evans who was hung for his crime. God bless Edward, his family and his brother and sister officers.

My grandmother was married to Ed at the time of his murder. This was her second marriage as her first husband died in an accident. She told me he was such a fun loving, happy go lucky person. He has such a beautiful smile in all of his pictures. May he rest in peace.
