Reflections for Police Officer Arthur DeMatte

A mentor I never personally new. Your honor and integrity has lived on all these years through your honorable family. Your sacrifice remained with me and assisted me in many aspects throughout and beyond my 26-year career in law enforcement. Thank you...

To the family of Police Officer Arthur DeMatte,

I can only imagine the difficult time this is to be faced with the knowledge that your officer's killer could go free. Thanks to ODMP I was notified of this and my letter has been composed and sent to the Parole Board. I hope that his killer stays behind bars.

I did not know Officer DeMatte but if I can do this for him, and for you, for his service and sacrifice, it is my honor.

Thank you Officer DeMatte for your bravery and for paying the ultimate sacrifice for the fine folks in NY. I just signed and sent in a letter to the parole board so that your cowardly killer never sees the light of day again !!!! You and your family are in my prayers.

You are a true AMERICAN HERO!!! May you always rest in peace, my brother...

I was a young Police Officer working on the day that PO DeMatte was slain and remember it as if it were yesterday. I wish his family comfort and peace in knowing what a good man he was. May his soul look down and protect you. God Bless.

My deepest condolences to th family DeMatte. I.agree with all the citizens who have come forward against paroling the killer of Officer DeMatte. I'm very aware of how this cop killers act and thinks once a cop killer always a cop killer.
Criminals are in the uprising and our hard earned peace of living cannot be thrown away just because anyone with hidden agenda can get credit for helping this cop killer get liberty.

May God Bless all the First Responders and Our Service Members in harmsway. God Bless our Country.

My condolences to the family of Officer Arthur DeMatte. I am a volunteer for the KSP and my son is a junior in college studying criminal justice. He has had the opportunity to do ride alongs with some of the officers and he is greatly looking forward to his career either as a police officer or a career in the ATF. I would like to think that if something were to happen to my son, his killer would NEVER be free. It is my opinion that inmate Anthony Blanks should be denied parole, and furthermore never see the light of day. It shouldn't even be questioned that this inmate should not be paroled. He chose to kill an officer who was there to protect and serve and for that he should be required to serve a life sentence. Do the right thing...DO NOT PAROLE INMATE ANTHONY BLANKS!! It is the right of Officer DeMatte's family to know that his killer will remain behind bars for the rest of his life and that they will NEVER have to deal with thinking his killer is free. Let his family live in peace. They deserve that. Deny parole for Anthony Blanks for taking the life of an officer ....deny parole for an idiot who didn't respect a man of the law and with no regard or respect for Officer DeMatte, took his life. Let his family live their lives in peace.

I work in a maximum security prison as a psychologist. In so doing, I have dealt w/ rapists, murderers, molesters and every other sort of crime against humanity. There is something markedly different about those that kill police. In the sociopathic deviant underworld of prison, it is a "badge of honor" that other convicts respect and look up to...convicts that do not know and will never know what "honor" means and the courage and selfishness that real men and women demonstrate when they wear the "badge." My experience has taught me that a cop killer is altogether unlike any other convict convicted of murder--they are most ruthless, most cruel, most deviant of all. May God intervene to keep this criminal where he needs to be so that the rest of us might be safer.

As the mother of 2 children that are Police Officers and the Aunt of a Police Office and the wife a retired Federal Agent this really sickens me. These people put their lives on the line every day and to think that some person that took one of their lives can walk the streets again to and have the opportunity to do this again makes my stomach turn!!! This murderer should not and can not be let back on the streets!!

First and foremost, my condolences to Officer Arthur DeMatte's family, friends, & PD family. It takes a very special person to make this career choice to serve and protect. I have the highest regard and appreciate our law enforcement agencies. Cop killers should be punished to the highest degree law will allow. Peace & Love, Roxanne ~ Colorado

I will do my part from here to keep inmate #78A0538 from getting the parole. Cop killers should never walk the streets. My fathers killer (Bobby Augusta Davis) spent 41 years in prison before hanging himself less than 1 year ago. Prayers go out to your family.

There should be an automatic sentence of 99 years without parole for the killer of a police officer. My heart goes out to all the families of fallen officers everywhere.

I was more than happy to file a grievance to help prevent the release of that piece of garbage. May you rest in peace and be sure that we are all here to help keep him behind bars were he belongs...

Law enforcement officers face inherent dangers while on the job. We all knew this before getting starting this profession. We shouldn't have to worry about convicted cop killers, such as Officer DeMatte's murderer, walking the streets praying on us or other innocent victims. Please do not let this murderer walk free.

Being a family member of a great officer. I don't think anyone who has done what that man did should even have a chance of porole. He should have to rot in prison. I can't imagine not haveing my brother-in-law here. These proud law officers are just doing their jobs protecting our lives and families. I want to show them the up most respect and grattitude. THANK YOU all for being there for us.

As a wife of a man in training to be a police officer, i believe this man should spend his whole sentence no questions asked! The biggest worry i have over my husband being a police officer is that one day he might not come home. That fear came true for this mans wife and children and the person responsible should not have a break because this officer didn't! People please use your common sense and back away form the books for a while. This man deserves to be locked up for what he has done!

As a wife of a retired police officer, I request that parole be denied to anyone who kills or injures a police officer. The families and the officer deserve to know that the justice system works for them not against them.

I believe it was my responsiblity to send an opposition for parole letter in honor of Officer Arthur DeMatte. He made the ultimate sacrifice and the lives of his loved ones were forever changed. The violence against law enforcement officers is at an all time high, mostly because these bandits have no respect and will go to any lengths to avoid jail. Earlier this year, my son, who is a Deputy US Marshal, lost one of his best friends to a fatal shooting. This young man of 24years and only 6months into his service was shot and fatally wounded while serving an arrest warrant. All our lives were changed at that moment, and that US Marshal ended is watch on Fevb 16, 2011. God Rest his Soul.
Rest in Peace Office DeMatte and may justice continue to be served in your death. May you and your fellow brothers continue to watch over those who continue your fight against evil. May your loved ones find comfort in your memories. 4594 forever in my heart

As the wife of a 25 year veteran of the Chattanooga Police Department and now the mother of a Chattanooga Police Officer please do not make light of this officer's family's pain and suffering over the last 35 years. I'm sure that a day doesn't go by for any of his family members that they are not touched by the grief and loss they have suffered at the hands of this man.

Honor this fallen hero by keeping his killer in Jail... I know that if you do this Officer is still "Protecting and Serving" his community if only because I for one will feel safer.
