Marshall Dearing is my 3rd great grand uncle. My brother found this article and now I understand why I wanted so badly to become a police officer. I was a Sergeant at JRCTP and an officer at Jackson Police Department. I retired in September 2012 from the Jackson Police Department as a 12 year Code Officer with the City.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 112th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace
