Chief Daw,

Your sacrifice is greater than any family should ever have to endure. I hope experience solace in knowing that the people you served and protected took action and ended the perpetrator who took your life. You have become legend in Siskiyou county and you will always be remembered with great honor when your name is read at the annual Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony held on the steps of the Siskiyou County Courthouse. Rest easy and thank you for your service. We will take the watch from here.

Chief Daw was my great-uncle.
There is a great book describing the events called "Just a Little Lynching Now and Then ..." by Alan McMurry. Chief Daw was my Grandmother's favorite brother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 75th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
