Reflections for Patrolman Charles Weir Crankshaw

Katherine Gran, we are undoubtedly cousins.
My grandfather was also a Charles Weir Crankshaw. He would have been born around 1895, more or less. My uncle was also named Charles Weir Crankshaw, III.
I never knew my grandfather. He was married to Mary Pepper Gentry Crankshaw, but they divorced in the 1930s or early 40s.
My grandfather was a watchmaker and silversmith. My Dad told me that we had a LOT of cops in our family, and that all of them were also Masons.
There are a LOT of Crankshaws in Pittsburgh, PA, because Uncle Charlie married into a Catholic family and had a mess of kids and they had kids and their kids had kids... so there were easily 100 family members at Uncle Charlie's funeral when he passed.
It really only occurred to me after my grandmother died that everything I knew about being a Crankshaw was really about being a Gentry, but my grandmother was proud of the Crankshaw name, even though she was only one by marriage.

Thank you for posting information regarding my uncle Charlie's bio. He and my grandfather John H.Crankshaw were identical twins and both served as City of Atlanta Officers. My grandfather retired in the 60's at the rank of Detective. it is very personal for me whenever I hear of Officers losing their life in the line of duty. PS: the gun the assailant used was a 32 caliber pearl handled Saturday Night Special. My grandfather retrieved it from the evidence lock up and kept it for the rest of his life.
