Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Chief of Police William J. Collins

Chief Collins, it has been 65 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your law enforcement service.

Chief Collins, I'm not aware of the eventual fate of the two teenagers, but I hope and pray they straightened out their lives and took personal responsibility for your passing. Something tells me I'm way off, but I want to believe otherwise.

It's been 65 years since your passing. I'm sure the Stockbridge Police and your descendants have all kept your name and memory in a place of honor, as it should be.

God Bless you, Brother and may your continued rest be ever peaceful.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 56th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Chief Collins, though your memorial says the exact date of the incident is not known, today is the day listed for your End of Watch. Today marks the 51st anniversary of your passing. Thank you for your service to the Commonwealth.

I find it especially tragic that a small town like Stockbridge lost two officers on the same date just six short years.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
