Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.

I don't have to tell you how proud you are of your son who followed you in law enforcement and gave his life while protecting innocent civilians. Both of you are heroes and heroes never die. Your memories will live forever and the Blue Family will never let either of you be forgotten. Keep watch over those still on patrol.

To the family and friends of Patrolman James J. Carroll and his fellow officers, and most especially to Patrolman Carroll himself:

Seventy one years after your tragic line of duty death, please know that you are remembered and honored. Your courage and dedication will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Patrolman Carroll.

May your family continue to be supported by their law enforcment family, and other police survivors.
It is so horrific that your family lost two brave souls in line of duty deaths.
I hope that you are safeguarding us from above with the help of your son who died such a heroic death.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished years of service Patrolman Carroll gave to his community and the citizens of New Jersey, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on May 27, 1934.
