Reflections for Police Officer Phillip W. Cardillo

The name Phil Cardillo will never be forgotten as long as there is a NYPD. The police commissioner, mayor, and all the others involved in this disgrace of the handling of the murder of a New York City police officer shall forever have their names sullied in mud for the way it was handled.May they never have a moment of peace for all eternity for their cowardice. God bless the memory of Phil.

Want to thank Rudy Andre for breaking the window which helped us gain access to th Mosque. I will never forget that day and recall the ride to St Lukes Hospital . Was in the back seat with PHIL and he was in a lot of pain. The doctors and nurses immediately escorted Phil to the emergency room Recall Mayor Lindsey stating on the police radio " There will be no riots in my city while Iam mayor"

On April 20, 2022 it will be 50 years since your passing, six days after being shot by a member of the Harlem Mosque #7 in the confines of the 28 Pct. In 1992 I was honored to have been a part of the 20th anniversary and since then countless others have been involved in keeping your memory alive and always will.. Let us never forget that the mayor and police commissioner did not attend your funeral for political reasons and even today politicians will not support the police. We will always remember and never forget. REMEMBER CARDILLO!

Rest easy my brother in blue...the saddest part to your death is that even your passing Chsrles Rangel and the community of the 28pct denied giving you a street corner within the confines of the 028 command....they were vigilant in not let the community board and the city approving it.They gave your street renaming in front of the new police academy in college point rather than leave your memories forever remembered where you were MURDERED by members of the mosque and still today your death is unsolved and nobody has been sentenced in your death.May God bless you and I know you are guarding the gates of Heaven.may the Lord always watch over your family..God Bless the NYPD Fidelis ad Mortem

MANY MENTION "CIRCLE OF SIX" WHICH WAS WELL DONE BUT NO ONE MENTIONED "MURDER AT THE HARLEM MOSQUE" BY GROSSO AND DEVANEY. THIS TELLS THE WHOLE SYORY OF PO CARDILLO'S MURDER AND THE SHAMEFUL RESPONSE OF THE CITIES SO CALLED LEADERS. REST IN PEACE OFFICER CARDILLO AND PEACE BE TO YOUR FAMILY.

RIP Detective phillip cardillo continue resting in peace gone bu never forgotten. I lived in the neighborhood where this tragedy occurred I was attending public school 207 on 118th street and Lenox Avenue we were not allowed to enter 116th
Street from the Lenox Avenue side right where the mosque is located. Due to such a strong police presence. I remember the roiting.the NYPD helicopters hovering over the area.we were told to go through 117 street and 7th Avenue in order to get into 116 street if we lived in the block it was very scary. Then we heard in on the news that a police officer had been slain in the mosque. RIP Detective cardillo.

It's been many years now since you have left your sisters and brothers. Not many rookies know of that terrible side of history in the attempt of appeasing a political agenda and, criminality. I remember the riots as clearly as day and, will no longer trust politicians and so called religious people who themselves become criminals. Continue to rest in peace brother.

I was working in West Harlem in 1972 and was proud of the efforts of the many heroes in the NYPD. I also understood the issues raised by the Black, White and Hispanic peoples to achieve equality. There was no place for violence and never will be. This was like many a senseless killing. What magnifies this was the failure of the City to plan a workable solution.

May God Bless Ofc. Cardillo, the other fine Officers on the scene that day and the many good people that offered their assistance.
May God Bless the Fine hard working Men and Women on the Greatest Police Force in the World. NYPD

Private Citizen and former clerk at Radio City Supermarket (2619 8th Ave.) Also very proud of the heritage and hard-working people of Harlem.

Another year in Heaven my brother. That was a day I will never forget...a day that I will be ashamed of the administration of that time. You are always in our hearts and thoughts. Recently, they had a recognition for PO Victor Padilla and P.O. Ivan Negron( deceased), in Orlando, Florida. Not many of us know or some do not remember that these two officers responded to your 10-13 from the 25 precinct that fateful day. They both suffered serious injuries that required hospitalization.
I'm honoured to know and worked with these men that heard the call and went to your aid. We should never forget the sacrifices that all who responded to the Mosque that day, and the ultimate death of our brother.
May all active members know about this sad day. Rest well brother..many of us have already gone to be with you, and many more will follow to say thank you for your service. I know I will.

Always thinking of your sacrifice for all of us who are here, and will meet up with you to say thank you. May the city never forget the wrong that they did to you and to all of us, when they turn their backs on us for the purpose of political gains and criminal appeasement. New York City died that day. May you continue to rest in the Heavens, and may God always bless your loving family, the NYPD and the 28.

Having been born in MN in 1973, I only recently learned of the tragic, April, 1972, ambush of honorable Officer Phillip Cardillo and his courageous fellow officers. I was struck by the bravery of the NYPD officers that day, especially Officer Cardillo who made the ultimate sacrifice for his city, state, and country. I was shocked, angered, and saddened by the absence of certainm disgraceful city officials at his bedside and funeral.

As a onetime resident of Manhattan, I respectfully offer my gratitude and condolences to Officer Cardillo's friends and fellow officers in the NYPD, past and present. In particular, I extend my condolences to Officer Cardillo's family whose Thank you, Tracy S.
