I have read your story in books, magazines, and articles many times. Every time I do I feel a range of emotions. It's very difficult not to be overwhelmed with anger. But, the strongest feeling I feel is pride. We, as a nation, are indebted to you. You were an honorable and courageous man who chose to live a life of service. You knew the dangers and risks that came with that assignment but you chose to take the fight to those cowards any way. You are a hero sir. Your brave and honorable service continues to inspire and your sacrifice has not been forgotten my brother. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the protection you provided for our great nation. Honore Semper.

I knew of Kiki and his courage before and during his capture and torture. He was an inspiration to so many Peace Officers and Drug Enforcement Officers all over America. A young recruit of mine came along in 1988 and saw a photograph of Kiki and asked who he was. After telling him what had happened to him, this young recruit asked if I could help him get in to the DEA so that he could further the cause that Kiki gave his life for. That was to stop the movement of drugs in to the United States of America. Thank you Kiki who, even in death serve as an example of all that is good and important in not only Law Enforcement Officers every where but to all of Mankind.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 27th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was also your brother in green so I bid you semper fi.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace today.

The circumstances of your death both sickened and enraged me, including the release of one of your killers.

Rest In Peace.
