You did what you were trained to do. A selfless decision which saved more lives. I never met you, but am proud to call you a hero. We go into the unknown and never know what or who is waiting for us, on the other side of that closed door. We all honor you and thank your family for standing by you while you served gallantly, while facing evil on a daily basis. Godspeed.

Who has greater love than he, who lays down his life for his friends? Besides Jesus Christ, I know of few others who have made such a sacrifice for complete strangers. I salute you Sgt for fighting the good fight and facing evil with all your might. Your life mattered. Your sacrifice mattered as well. May our Father in Heaven shower all of those who love you with His comfort and peace. You served well.

Praying for Sergeant Helus's family, friends, and brothers and sisters in service. I'm so sorry for your loss. He is hero, as he lived and sadly as he died... A Hero. God may your mercy, grace and strength be on his family and those who served with him. Praying for all the victims of this senseless shooting.

There a few people in this world who run to the sound of gunfire. Sgt. Helus not only went in but confronted and engaged a mass murderer. By focusing the attention on himself, I’m sure that others had the chance to live. Unfortunately, Sgt. Helus paid the ultimate price. He died as a true hero and I pray that he was welcomed home to the arms of the Lord.

These words are nonetheless insufficient to ease the pain for those he left behind. I’m incredibly sorry for your loss.
