On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Garrett was killed in the line of duty.

To the Hull family, fellow officers, and all who call Garrett beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I hope that as the first anniversary of your loved one's untimely death approaches, that you continue to receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Corporal Hull gave to his community and the citizens of Texas and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 13, 2018.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Just moved to Sansom Park, TX, and never knew Corp. Hull however I admire and appreciate him for the supreme sacrifice that he made to protect us thankful and vulnerable good people from the defective humans who prey upon us ! I wish that he would've been able to survive and that the evil ones which he battled would've died !

To protect the public from the deadly intentions of those men you risked everything. No doubt they would have robbed and shot other civilians like myself had they escaped. I salute you and the selflessness that makes a policeman great. May the Big Sleep be restful and all your dreams be good ones.

Thank you for your service to your community, your state, and your friends and family. There are few people that make it their mission to protect the things they call their home, and even fewer give the ultimate sacrifice to achieve that end. You, and officers like you are the reason I find myself pursuing a career in law enforcement and homeland security. Godspeed to your family and friends. Rest easy Corporal.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over seven years. I pray that Garrett's life and death will bring glory to God.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.
