Reflections for Corporal Eugene Philip Cole

Cpl. Cole, it has been 6 years since you were taken from us. Northern New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices that you and too many others have made for us. Thank you for your service.

My name is Dustin. Back in 09-2010 deputy Cole had arrested me a few times. When I was lost on a path in life blinded by fog of immaturity. When I heard he was hurt I got angry. For the simple reason that deputy Cole was a very caring and generous man. During my darkest days I've dealt with officers all around Maine and alot treated me as if I was beneath them. But not deputy Cole. He treated me as human, as a man, as a equal. He showed me not all cops are the same. He taught me to respect those you want to respect you. I hurt knowing that if the d*** who he was trying to detained simply asked for help deputy Cole would of helped him with his substance abuse. But instead he was a coward and took a great man's life. You will live on in many of our memories sir. Thank you for your service.

Corporal Cole, I was at your funeral service in Bangor. It was my first funeral and it was beautiful. I shed tears as I stood during the moment of silence and looked around. Before the funeral I knew that Law Enforcement was close but I had no idea how close they really were. This was the moment I truly began to view Law Enforcement as my second family and for that I am forever in your debt.

I hope that everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

REST-IN-PEACE My Brother in Arms

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over seven years. I pray that Euene's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.
