Reflections for Police Officer David Charles Sherrard

Just drove by the highway sign bearing your name and looked you up to keep your memory alive. Rest in peace and know that your service is appreciated.

I bet they got a better gym up there than the one we used at the academy on nights after you had to clear put your garage. This page didn't tell the story right: that guy laud in wait in that apartment and screamed help to draw you in, and intentionally murdered you - a great man doing the Lord's work.

They put your name on the highway big guy; think about what you did, and what this world did to you, every time I drive by.

Of course you had to go; this world didn't deserve the likes of you.

Job well done.

You have a beautiful strong wife and I am praying hard for her and the girls. They love and miss you very much.
Seems you left quite an impact and a big hole in many lives. You keep watching over your family from above and we will pray and watch over them from down here.

In 47 days the trial for the man that killed you will finally start. I didn’t know you. But as the saying goes I did. It’s been a long 2 years showing up to work knowing your killer was in my jail. But justice is finally almost here. May it bring your family peace.

I hope that everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when David was killed in the line of duty.

To the Sherrard family, fellow officers, and all who call David beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service David gave to his community and the citizens of Texas and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 7, 2018.

Deepest condolences to Family, Department and Friends. Visit the web site ImagineHeaven.net for a glimpse of the Glorious Reunions awaiting. All law enforcement men and women indeed qualify as "Foxhole Christians" with their duty dangers. As Ray Comfort at LivingWater.com says "Passing is the doormat they wipe their feet on before entering Heaven.” It is our belief they will hear from the Lord Himself. “Do not fear. for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:12).

While the grief shall eventually pass, the stories of how you made us all laugh will live on forever. You were a great training officer that showed me what it meant to truly serve with compassion. You were considered a friend to anyone who was fortunate enough to meet you. You will be truly missed my brother.

To all family and friends of Officer Sherrard. It saddens me to hear of another Officer losing his life while simply doing what he was called to do, to protect and serve. May you find comfort in the memories you share. Praying for Peace and strength from God.

Every morning I go to my knees.  During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm.  They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil.  If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain.  Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf.   Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over six years.  I pray that David's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Trust those prayers.  God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

Dave you goofy f'er! We served together on SWAT. I always knew you had my back. When you started I thought you were young, goofy and a little immature. I watched you grow into a dedicated SWAT officer, Instructor, cop and my friend. I will surely miss you. I love you buddy.
