I bet they got a better gym up there than the one we used at the academy on nights after you had to clear put your garage. This page didn't tell the story right: that guy laud in wait in that apartment and screamed help to draw you in, and intentionally murdered you - a great man doing the Lord's work.

They put your name on the highway big guy; think about what you did, and what this world did to you, every time I drive by.

Of course you had to go; this world didn't deserve the likes of you.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when David was killed in the line of duty.

To the Sherrard family, fellow officers, and all who call David beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service David gave to his community and the citizens of Texas and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 7, 2018.

On behalf of Point 27, I would like to offer condolences for Officer David Charles Sherrard. Please know we are eternally grateful for David’s service and his ultimate sacrifice.

To honor Officer Sherrard, Point 27 sent 27 Thin Blue Line Dog Tag Necklaces, engraved with “Blessed are the Peacemakers for they will be called children of God” Matthew 5:9, Chief, Richardson Police, for David’s partner and fellow officers. Point 27 sent Folded Flag Necklaces engraved with “Greater Love has no one than this; than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend” John 15:13 for Officer Sherrard’s family members.

Point 27 is a Non-Profit Organization with a mission to strengthen and encourage members of the Armed Forces, First Responders, and their families, by sharing scripture on Dog Tags and Jewelry called Shields of Strength.

Every morning I go to my knees.  During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm.  They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil.  If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain.  Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf.   Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over six years.  I pray that David's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Trust those prayers.  God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain. 

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.
