As we all come to reckon with the aftermath of losing a brother in Officer Sherrard, we reflect on who he was to the people most important to him. A wreath of flowers adorned the stage at his memorial service which read "My Sweet Beast". It's obvious to anyone who saw and worked beside Officer Sherrard, he was an imposing figure. One can imagine that he carried his presence proudly and professionally and it served him equally well. In that wreath, we caught a glimpse of who Officer Sherrard was as a man, a husband, and a father. None of us can imagine what it's like for this family to lose someone so committed to both sides of life: Family and Career. All we can do is honor this brave man and carry on our mission both in his name and for all of those who have made this sacrifice before us. We will continue to pray for the fine men and women of Richardson PD, as well as Officer Sherrard's wife Nicole and their kids.

David, thank you sincerely for your service. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I was honored to attend the beautiful service for Officer David Sherrard this afternoon. I was moved by th courage Officers Sherrards wife displayed during her remembrance speech. I did not know Officer Sherrard, but after attending his service I have a true understanding of what a wonderful man he was.
