To the family of Trooper Anson,
I was so saddened to hear of your father, husband, and brother's death, respectively. I can tell by his picture that he was a kind and happy person. His good deeds at the cleanup site I'm sure benefited many people and have unseen ripple effects unknown to you. Please take comfort in my humble expression of connection to you in that my brother, also a NYS trooper, who passed 4 years ago from an accident, also participated in the 9-11 cleanup efforts. We heard a lot about his experiences helping to repair a broken-hearted city and nation, by touching just one life at a time. It was just something he was driven to do, he said. I still have his hard hat to remember that time...our men were tough and virtuous. I very much regret not being able to attend your loved one's services, but please know that my family and I will be praying for you and asking that as time passes, healing will come from your memories of his selfless service as well as from our Lord in Heaven.

Your sacrifice and service are wholly inspiring. On behalf of a grateful nation, and my generation, thank you for responding to its greatest need during its greatest sorrow. Ours is the debt that can never be repaid. Your wounds were the wounds of this nation and your loss is a loss to us all. Rest in peace and may your loved ones remember you with pride.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the New York State Police. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

Thank you Officer Michael J. Anson for your service. Your bravery on 9/11/2001 is why I am proud to be an American. Despite you and your fellow officers doing your job; what were trained to do, you went into that terror leashed on our country without worrying about the outcome. You did what had to be done and we all will never be able to say thank you enough. We will watch over your family.
