Just saw your episode of Body Cam. God bless you for your service and especially your sacrifice. There’s a special place in heaven for you.

Zach,
Thank you for your service. I watched your Bodycam episode for the second time and again my heart aches for you and your family, for your department and your community. It’s obvious that you were liked and respected. I know you can’t read this but I feel so much anger for that man. I know he had mental health problems and wasn’t taking his meds. That makes it hurt even more because it didn’t have to happen.
I just want to thank all law enforcement for everything they do for the community everyday whether the people in the community appreciate it or not. I wish there were something I could do. Something needs to be done to better help these individuals so things like this don’t happen anymore.
To your wife and kids, I hope you feel his strength and love every moment of your lives.
xoxo

Deputy Parrish, today I watched a TV program which showed, via body cams, the incident that took your life. If the intensity that I felt simply watching it, I can only imagine what it was like to be there, and I’m probably getting it wrong.

Your Sister and Brothers, and you are true heroes and I thank God the others survived. It breaks my heart you did not.

Thank you for your service. Those who knew and love you best are in my prayers.

God Bless you and may your eternal rest be ever peaceful, Brother.

Today, I will not answer the radio call that you boyfriend has come home drunk and is beating you again. Today I will not answer the radio call that your 16 year old daughter, who is very responsible, is four hours late coming home from school. Today I will not answer the radio call that your store has been robbed or your house has been burglarized. Today I will not stop a drunk driver from killing someone. I will not catch a rapist or a murder or a car theft. Today I will not answer the radio call that a man has a gun or tried to abduct a child or that someone has been stabbed or has been in a terrible accident. Today I will not save your child that you locked in the car or the child you were to busy to watch who went outside and fell into swimming pool. No, today I will not do that. Why? Because Today I was killed be a drunk driver while I was helping push a disabled car off the highway. Today I was was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop to simply tell someone that they has taillight out. Today I was killed in traffic accident rushing to help a citizen. Today I was shot and killed serving a warrant on a know drug dealer. Today I was killed be a man when I came by to do a welfare check because his family was to busy. Today I was killed trying to stop a bank robbery or a grocery store robbery. Today I was killed doing my job.

A chaplain and a officer will go to a house and tell a mom and dad or a wife or husband or mother or father I won’t be coming home today. The flags at many police stations were flown at half-mast but most people won’t know why. There will be a funeral and my fellow officers will come, a twenty-one-gun salute will be given, and taps will be played as I am laid to rest my name will be put on a plaque , on a wall , in a building, in a city somewhere. A folded flag will be placed on a mantel or a bookcase in a home somewhere and a family will morn.

There will be no cries for justices. There will be no riots in the streets. There will be no officers marching , screaming “no justice, no peace.” No citizens will scream that something must be done. No windows will be smashed, no cars burned , no stones thrown,no names called. Only someone crying themselves to sleep tonight will be the only sign that I was cared about.

Zack, I am a new guy with the DCSO. You are EVERYWHERE! It is a fantastic thing to see how much your department loves you. I got to ride in your car, ZPIII, today. The weight of your sacrifice was not lost on me. I never got to know you, but I hope to honor your legacy as I continue my career. Much love and prayers to your family.

My God bless and keep this officer and his family in His hands! People today seem to forget the sacrifices made by the police officers who protect us from harm, and the families of these officers who each day wonder if they will return home or lose their lives in service to others. They don’t see the burden these officers carry each and everyday on their jobs, the stress they encounter everyday entering situations that the rest of us flee from. I am the daughter of a Boston police officer who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service. He died of a heart attach at the age of 39. So, all my life I have known the price these officers and their families pay. Stand tall in pride, knowing that Zach was a hero who gave his life in service of others. Because of officers like him, we rest easy each night, knowing that they are there protecting us from harm.

I just finished watching an episode of Nightline on ABC that highlighted this tragic story and all of the tragedy that ensued. First and foremost my heart and my prayers are with Deputy Parrish's wife and his 2 beautiful lil girls. There really are no words to express how I am feeling after watching this. Just when I thought that evil could not get any darker...I see this. My heart hurts for every Officer that put themselves in harms way...who's only goal was to try to help that man. We live in a nation now that is so divided and so full of anger and hate and violence. All I feel that I can do anymore is pray for it to come to an end soon. Until then, to ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL THAT MY MESSAGE MIGHT REACH...I THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND YOUR SACRIFICE. FOR THE FALLEN ONES AND THEIR FAMILIES...I AM SO, SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS AND I ALSO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND YOUR SACRIFICE!! YOU HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE!! MAY GOD KEEP YOU ALL SAFE AND BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.

I hope that everyone will find comfort in the scripture Acts 24:15-"And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Until we see our loved ones again in Paradise on Earth, please accept my condolences.

Zack was my first partner. Words can’t describe the feeling when I first heard his name released. The one thing that kept me grounded after his death was his unwavering faith in God. I knew, for once in this profession, that his family was going to be okay, and that he was at peace.

Zack wouldn’t have changed the outcome if it meant one of his brothers or sisters had to take his place. He is the epitome of what this job is supposed to be about.

Love you brother. Til we meet again at the gates of heaven. RIP. We have the watch.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Zackari was killed in the line of duty.

To the Parrish family, fellow deputies , and all who call Zack beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Zackari gave to his community and the citizens of Colorado and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 31, 2017.
