Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Lieutenant Aaron William Allan

Lt. Allan and family,

Your dedication and service to the City of Indianapolis and Southport was selfless and nothing short of amazing. Your kind soul and infectious smile will continue to live in my heart forever. RIP Aaron. My prayers are with your family as they process this and attempt to go on with daily life without you, their rock.

Glen it's been 47 years since your death and I reflect often. You made the supreme sacrifice but it could have been me or any other brother or sister officer. I've retired after servings in two other law enforcement agencies but my thoughts and prayers remain with you. Rest In Peace Glen. You will. Ever be forgotten.

Sacrificed your life in an effort to save someone else's life. Sad that this person felt the need to kill you while you were trying to save him. I'm sure there is more this man's story; just look at his record, otherwise he would have been thankful that you arrived, instead of becoming a killer. This world is doomed.....RIP Lieutenant Allan.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln
