May God bless your family, friends, and coworkers during this tragic time. I wish I could've been there with you on that fateful day. We could've taken the guy down together, or I'd have fallen beside you. Our brotherhood is like no other. We fight to the death for each other when we must, that's how it is. That's something that outsiders don't understand-the brotherhood. Thank you for your service & sacrifice.

Salute.

Thunder bellows as a reminder of how wrong it was for our brother to be taken from us. Lightning cracks and flashes as quickly as his breath was spent. Rain pours down in an attempt to cleanse the blackened soul of our humanity. Just like the night his life flowed into the street, tonight nature attempts to right the wrong shifting its course. He is gone and will not be the last. A Thin Blue Line dresses right to ensure an ever growing vacancy is filled. Yet those void and barren regions of our soul shall remain ever vacant. God speed our brother!!!

SA Walter,

I can't, and will not, ever understand the violence that was inflicted upon you or your family. It pains me to know that we fight abroad for freedom and liberty when people at home face such violence that must be stopped. The pain of you and your family is felt tonight as I sit thousands of miles away serving a tour with the US Army. Rest in peace with your true bravery to serve as your memorial to the cause of a greater society. You have sacrificed more than necessary for a brave cause. Thank you for your service, before and after the Marines. You had it in your blood. Every day you gave was a victory because you wanted to make the world a better place. I'm confident that you have accomplished your goal.

Agent Walter, it is always heartbreaking when someone so young with loving family like you loses his/her life in the line of duty. Words cannot describe the grief they are suffering. May you find the peace and joy that our Lord promised to those who serve Him faithfully. May He immerse you in His Divine Mercy.

It will be a very sad Memorial Day for the family of slain Virginia State Police Special Agent Michael Walter as he was shot and killed while investigating suspicious activity in Richmond, VA. His name will go on the wall next year with other officers who lost their lives this year. Let us not forget all who served their country this Memorial Day but their communities as well.

Mike - we met long ago working "The President's Cup" in Gainesville, VA. What a fun time that was! We did area/object search training with our K9 partners while there and turned some long work days into good old fashioned fun.

Afterward we kept in touch and met up at the VSP Academy for K9 training and agency coordination. From the moment we met, you stressed your love for Jaime, your children and your passion for the job.

You will be missed here on this earth. I find solace knowing that you and Bear will be together again, fighting crime.

God bless my friend Mike Walter.
