RIP my brother in blue. Thank you for your service. Thoughts and prayers to your family and the Bloomingdale PD.

Whatever our duty, or wherever we serve, we are all brothers and sisters in this most honorable calling. We have lost yet another brother who we must never forget.

My deepest sympathy to both his family and his law enforcement family. My thoughts and prayers are with them. May he rest in eternal peace.

A student in our 3rd grade class, Leah Bilek, found a hand painted rock with the words, "In memory of Officer Raymond Murrell" while doing a 5K run in memory of one of our fallen local police officers, Officer D.W. Smith. After she picked it up during the race, her father, also a police officer, carried the rock the rest of the race. She brought it into school today to share it with us. We looked up Officer Murrell online and found this site. We wanted you to know about Leah's discovery of the rock and to let you know that we honor and appreciate Officer Murrell's service. The class feels that Leah's discovery of the rock was meant to be. We are sorry for your loss. From, Mrs. Swartz's 3rd Grade Class in Johnson City Intermediate School, Johnson City, NY

Officer Murrell's Badge Number is #145. 01-19-2017 was one of the worst days in my life. I think of you every time I'm driving down Army Trail to a call. You are missed brother.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Raymond was killed. To his family, please forgive the inaccuracies on my previous reflection. I had inadvertently sent it before edits were finished.

To the Murrell family, fellow officers, and all who call Raymond beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you. You were so very young and robbed of so many years.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Murrell gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 19, 2017.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over five years. I pray that Raymond's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.
