Reflections for Police Officer Jose Gilbert Vega

Gilbert was my Father’s best friend. They started in the academy together and we’re suppose to retire together, but Gilbert decided to do 1 more year. I remember October 8, 2016 very clearly. From that day on, my Father has never been the same. He lost a piece of him with Gilbert that he’ll never get back. Gilbert was funny, caring, compassionate and loved his family. Overall an amazing officer! God bless Gilbert and Leslie’s family and God rest their souls.

Officer Gilbert Vega was my older brother, he truly was a great human being and Officer. He was very humble, patient. I miss his dry wit and crooked smile.

Incidences such as these drive my family and I to a state of grieving for those who fell by the heinous actions taken and the family members of those who were lost. Although I have only read about Officer Vega in news and ODMP articles, I feel a deeply rooted debt to him, his family, and all other fallen Officers. Officer Vega possesses unquestionable honor and undoubted bravery. May Officer Vega rest in perpetual peace and live on in unending memory and may his family and fellow Officers feel solace and comfort in a time of darkness.
Sincerely,

A Concerned Citizen

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, family and loving, caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name, Amen”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for the past four years. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.

Faith helps us see beyond the grave.
