I was blessed to have worked with Brad in Negotiator training on the state level with LACN. He was also willing to do whatever needed to be done. Friendly and welcoming, he is missed.

Thank you for everything you did to serve. Only the strong go down fighting. You risked your life to help another officer and died because if your selflessness. I remember when I saw the officers dead and others wounded on news. We were driving back from Florida and I was so shocked that my hometown was attacked. Rest In Peace. I remember you everyday and always thank your sacrifice.

Brad ran toward danger... he did so to save his fallen brother... he died a hero,”

Dear Brad:

Thank you for the selfless act of courage displayed that horrible day. Your sacrifice has prevented vermin from hurting anyone else. A terrible price, paid by you and your agency, to ensure that our fellow Americans we are sworn to protect, shall not be in vain.

We have many critics today of law enforcement officers and the manner in which we do our job. They exist because they have never worn a badge or gun, and they never will. They never could, and they have NO CLUE about the sacrifice you, your family, and every other law enforcement officer makes everyday.

My prayer for your family is that time will ease the pain and suffering they are enduring, and they will forever have God's blessing. Certainly the void will never go away, but your family can always say that they have a hero in the family..and that is what you and every law enforcement officer in this great nation is, a hero.

Rest in peace, and, "Above all else, honor".

Lake Mary Police, Fl.

To the Garafola family, fellow deputies, and all who call Brad beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you. This should never have happened.

You were my son's brother in green also so I thank you for your service to our country in the Corps and bid you semper fi.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Garafola gave to his community and the citizens of Louisiana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 17, 2016
