Nathan, you were my hero and role model growing up. Thank you for your example and for being the best brother anyone could ask for. Your example and advise were the reasons I chose to follow the calling of law enforcement. I appreciate you always looking out for me. These past several months have been brutal without you. I think about you every day and miss you terribly, more than words can express. You were a shining example to your fellow officers. I've had many approach me and tell me how you affected their outlook on the job, and their attitude towards going the extra mile in serving the people they come in contact with. I've had miraculous encounters with total strangers who have shared amazing stories about how you came to their rescue in a time of distress. You always managed to cast a big shadow while you lived, and have left an even bigger one in your absence. Rest in peace, big brother, until we all meet again on the other side, through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. I love you.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Nathan was killed.

To the Taylor family, fellow officers, and all who call Nathan beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service CHP Officer Taylor gave to his community and the citizens of California, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 13, 2016.

Talking with his father Jeffery K. Taylor, I don't know either of this men. But his father is sadden by the incident but very proud of his son being part of the CHP. Dr. Taylor is proud of his son because of the impact that he had on the people he serves. Officer Nathan Taylor was a people person and always put the safe of people before his own. I can tell by the stories Dr. Taylor shared with me in the 45 minutes we talked on the phone that Officer Taylor was a very good officer, a better man, excellent father and husband. I was told that he served around the city I lived in Compton, CA. Thank you sir for your service. You still touching lives though you no longer with us. Thank you dad for sharing your stories with me. I will pass it on.
