On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Luz
was killed.

To the Soto- Segarra family, fellow officers, and all who call Luz beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Lt. Soto-Segarra gave to her community and the citizens of Puerto Rico, and for the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on December 28, 2015.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Siento mucho la partida de la 1LT Soto, companera de academia y trabajo, que el Senor te acoja bajo su manto y conceda descanso eterno, mucha fortaleza a tus hijos, esposo y familiares. Dios te bendiga

I'm deeply sadden by the departure of 1LT Soto, we were cadets at the 190 PRPD academy and worked in the Ponce region, a huge loss for PRPD, may the Lord welcome you under his mantle and grant eternal rest, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family. God bless you

I was deeply sadden when I read of the death Of Lt. Soto-Segarra. Please take comfort in Jesus words found at John 5:28,29 where he said that there would be a resurrection. Just think about the time when you will see your love ones again, in peaceful conditions, here on earth.

Once again my deepest condolences to you.
