Bill (Jimmy), I miss you every day. As Daddy would say , this world has gone to hell I a hand basket! The government is tying the hands of the law enforcement officers, scrutinizing every big and little thing done by them. Sometimes it seems they can’t even sneeze without being drilled on who, what , when, and where. This because of a few bad apples and the immediate implication of “racism” or “profiling” by “peaceful demonstrators with insurgence of individuals from various faction groups. With all this BS going on, I’m glad you are not here. Many agency leaders are not supporting their officers. I know, however, good will prevail. Jimmy, from what I heard when I was in Shalimar for your funeral, you were a man of integrity, for which I was proud. I know you loved your job , and I a trying to beat peace with that. I love you Jimmy. Rest In Peace. You wool not be forgotten.

Jimmy (Bill), Five years — it’s hard to believe. I miss you. I have struggled with your passing. I know things were strained between us - not sure exactly what it was - but it doesn’t matter. Deep down, I believe we knew we loved each other. I am at peace now. Know that your ambush resulted in a change of procedure that should have been in place long before. I love you. Rest - you did your job above and beyond. You were loved by many and you have not been forgotten. As long as I’m alive, you and other men and women of the Thin Blie Line will be remembered and seen fir their dedication and sacrifice. #backtheblue Gone but Never Forgotten

Bill 5 years ago you were taken from us. The community lost a great Deputy, the world lost a great comedian, and I lost one of the only people who actually kept up with me after my deployments to combat. I truly miss you, and loved having you as my uncle!

Until Valhalla!

Jimmy, it’s been four years. Whoever said it gets easier, lied. I miss you so much. You were taken away. ... I didn’t get to say goodbye. I hadn’t seen you in a while but kept up with you through Robin and Mom. I’m sorry if I did something that hurt you and cause us to drift apart. You have been my bestest brother and protector and I am and was so proud of you. I remember the fun days when we were younger ...especially the day we pulled up to park the car and I said “Dad must not be home.” You popped back, laughing your a** off, saying “Dork, we’re in the car ... that’s why the car’s not here. We did have some good times. Please forgive me if I said or did anything wrong and for send the letter of accusation in the past. Please know I love you with all my heart and soul, miss you s a brother, protector and friend. I am proud of you, you served our country and nation as well as your communities well. Rest, your comrades in arms are continuing where you left off and your brothers and sisters in blue have your six. Say hi to Dad and Mom for me please. Love you always and forever.

Its already September again. Hard to believe its been almost 4yrs since youve been gone. It still feels like it just happened. People tell me, "itll get better with time". Those "people" obviously haven't lost the Love of their lives. I start each day telling you I Love You. I fall asleep at night I telling you I Love You. I lost count of how often during the day I stop to tell you I Love You. I so look forward to the day I can hear you say it back to me again. I love you Baby and miss you more each day.

Sept 22nd is the anniversary of the loss of my dear friend, Bill Myers. He was my guardian angel from the time I met him at the age of 7. I could get myself into the biggest pickles... and Bill was always there to straighten it out. He was the type of person a police officer is expected to be, going above the standard in every way, in fact. I'd like to thank him personally, but that opportunity was taken from me. So, today I'd like to thank those who remain in service to their communities and this country. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything you do.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

I only met Bill Myers once at a local amateur radio club just around the time I moved to Fort Walton Beach. We had a wonderful conversation and he shared funny stories about his military experiences, his love of Disney World and family. May he forever rest and peace....

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Bill was killed.

To the Myers family, fellow deputies, and all who call Bill beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Myers gave to his community and the citizens of Florida and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 22, 2015.

Over the past 9 months, I have heard how you affected the lives of many. Many loved your integrity, ability and willingness to mentor, and most of all your love for life. You are missed by so many. I miss you so much and think of you daily. Memories continue to come to mind which keep you alive in my heart. Bill/Jimmy, not only were you a good big brother, you were a great dad, PawPaw, and friend/mentor to many by living by example! Rest now - it is well earned - Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department has your six as well as brothers and sisters of the Thin Blue Line! I love you! Thanks for being not only my brother, my HERO as well.

My condolences to Deputy Myers family, friends, and fellow colleagues of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. 2 Timothy 3:1 states we are living in "critical times". That is very evident by this senseless act of violence. Many in the world completely disregard God's command rerecorded at Romans 13:1,2 "Let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God, the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. Therefore, whoever opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will bring judgement against themselves." Despite this horrific tragedy, our Heavenly Father Jehovah God outlines a marvelous prospect for Deputy Myers recorded at Revelation 21:3,4 "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." I pray God's promise concerning our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death bring comfort to Deputy Myers family and to all who knew him.

Bill was someone everyone liked. He was a great mentor and spoke with me often about my decision to become an officer. He is dearly missed by all those who knew him. Godspeed brother, we have it from here.

I am a resident of the United Kingdom, born to Jamaican parents here 47 years ago. I have enjoyed time in the U S and Caribbean during my whole life and i am always astonished at the differences there are between policing the u.k and the americas and the Caribbean. I have just happened upon this page today and im in shock at the amount of valuable officers who have lost their lives to gunfire in the U.S this year alone.

I write this in the wake of the horrendous terror attacks in Paris last weekend. During this week, a public debate in the U.K has found that 80% of the U.K now wish that our U.K police were fully armed but our government is steadfast in its view that having armed police on our shores will be a gateway to more horrendous crimes. I agree. I don't believe that guns in the hands of anyone, except for those tackling armed conflicts in war time, help society. My heart Goes out to all of the brave U.S police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty within these pages. I pray for a better America.
