Reflections for Officer C. O. Brewer
A sincere thanks to all who have left a message here - and rest assured he is truly NOT forgotten. My family attends the Dallas Memorial Service every year to honor him and all those who followed -- to let those who have recent losses know...even 119 years later, we remember.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 117th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

May you always rest in peace and know that you will never be forgotten. Additionally, Officer Scholl, if you ever happen to read this, I hope you know what an exceptional reflection that was that you left for our fallen hero. Something that we should always do as training officers in honoring and thanking our brethren gone before us but yet learning from them in a positive way. God bless you both and, Officer Brewer, until we meet again sir.

C.O. Ninety years later, when I was an FTO training rookies on the Third Watch in Dallas, on their first night of duty with me, I always drove them to two sacred places: the place where you, the first known DPD Officer killed in the line of duty, died; and, second, the place where the latest DPD Officer died. At each stop, we got out and talked about you and the other officer, and what we were going to do to insure we went home at the end of each shift. Sadly, during the my time in Dallas, the second stop changed ten times, but yours was always the first. Thank you for your sacrifice, and inspiration. The lessons you and the others taught us helped me, and each of my rookies, make it home every time. God bless you.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend recently. Deputy Jeffery Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.
I want to honor all of those who gave their life in the line of duty. Although your death was many many years ago, you are still a hero.
God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.
...Gone, but never Forgotten....

You were the first known Dallas Police Officer to die in the line of duty. Of course Dallas has changed so much since your death and 73 other officers have followed you to heaven. You are all heros.
