One of the most compassionate men I will have ever known in my lifetime. Mike was faithful to His Lord Jesus Christ first and such a loving and protective husband to his precious wife. He served our community and our church in so many ways that we will never know all the ways he helped others. I miss you Mike-you have left a legacy on this earth that few could ever dream of leaving. Forever in my heart-your friend-"Barbry"

I am saddened to see your smiling face on this touching memorial website. Although I hadn't seen you or Mark since high school graduation, I am comforted by the knowledge that you made a difference in the world and left it in a better place than you found it. May God be with your family, and may you and Mark rest in peace until we all meet again.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mike Starrett and his wife Jerri. Mike as an officer did his job very well with a certain twist. Mike and I did have our differences from time to time and diffidently agree to disagree but this was how it was with Mike. He did make a hugh impression on others as well. Great works he did for children and a great humanitarian. Our family has lost a great person that when sitting on my porch you expect to see him and the wave we would exchange. I as a citizen of Jacksboro TN in which Mike served and served without any hesitation still feel the loss of Mike and will never forget his great deeds and his service to our town. I extend to others law enforcement officers family and fellow officers who's fellow officers lost their lives serving their community my condolences. R.I.P #302# Det. Mike Starrett. Gone, but in no way forgotten.

EVEN THOUGH I MADE PRETTY BAD CHOICES DURING MY LIFE I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE UP MOST RESPECT FOR ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS NO MATTER AGENCY OR BRANCH..IN ALL MY YEARS PAYING FOR ALL MISTAKES AND BAD CHOICES..
WHICH INCLUDED CONTACT WITH POLICE OR THE SHERIFF IN MY CITY I WAS ALWAYS TREATED WITH SAME RESPECT THAT I GAVE EACH AND EVERY CONTACT THOUGH VERY FEW OFFICERS...ABOUT 2% WHO WERE NEVER AS RESPECTFUL AS THE OTHER 98%..AND FOR THIS THEY ALL DESERVE TO COME HOME SAFE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD...BUT WITHOUT HESITATION THEY LAY DOWN THEIR LIFE FOR COMPLETE STRANGERS...BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE...FROM THE C.O. TO THE CAMPUS POLICE
