I remember very vividly learning of your tragic murder in December 2014. As a long time resident of New York, I always held the men and women of the NYPD in the highest regard and was incredibly saddened to hear of this loss.

I am currently a recruit in the Los Angeles Sheriff Department Academy, Class 413. The loss of Officers Ramos and Liu fueled my desire to become a police officer, and I am always deeply appreciative of their sacrifice.

I sincerely hope my career and service will honor the memory of Detective Ramos.

Today is the first anniversary of that terrible day you and Detective Liu were murdered purely out of misguided hatred for your profession. You have most certainly NOT been forgotten nor will you be.

God Bless, Brother.

Last year when the officers where shot, a song was written for those grieving at this sacred time of year. Now more officers are being shot. The song "When Christmas Hurts: is for their families.

We are praying for them!

I didn't know Detective Ramos but his death has forever changed my life. when I heard of his murder on the news I felt so sad and angry at the same time, I had to do something, so 2 days later I began publicly supporting my local lapd and have continued to do so. Rest in Peace Sir, and know someone in CA carries a challenge coin with your name 24/7.
