I am glad that someone found Marshal Wood and put his name on this page. I have been helping organize the annual South Dakota Law Enforcement Memorial Service, which is held in Pierre, SD during Police Week each year. Every year I go back to ODMP and look for additional officers that may have been overlooked over the years. This year, we have added Marshal Wood to our Roll Call, and he will be remembered from this day forward. We are also adding his name to the fallen officers monument at the State Capital. Rest in peace, Marshal Wood. You will be remembered.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 93rd anniversary year of your death. I am privileged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
