Officer Harwood, I never knew you but I am a Police Officer and have been for the past 11 years. Topeka is where I was born and partially raised. I was saddened when I learned of your passing. I am tired of people killing us without provocation. You have a beautiful and wonderful family and I'm confident that your are in the Kingdom of Heaven watching over your family and others you care about.. Your killer plead guilty today and will hopefully be prevented from ever being able to hurt anyone again. I will continue to pray for your family. God Speed Brother.

I'm a cadet (explorer) and I was a very close friend of Jason and he was my mentor. He got me into the cadet program. He lived 3 blocks from my house, he gave me a tour of his K-9 police Crown-Vic when I first met him 5-6 years ago.

Jason, the times we shared in Cub Scout with our boys will always be in the Bartlett Family's hearts. We all recall the time making you a get well card after the vehicle hit you on the highway, stopping by your home just to check on you and bring you baked goods. Yum yum! We truly miss you as a local hero, a true American hero and a true friend. Nevertheless, you will always live on in spirit within our hearts.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Jason was killed.

To the Harwood family, fellow officers, and all who call Jason beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Corporal Harwood gave to his community and the citizens of Kansas , and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 7, 2014.

A man’s life is not measured by his wealth or status, but by what he does with his time on earth, be that many or just a few years. Corporal Jason E. Harwood did much with his years.

I stand in awe at the bravery of this young officer and the too many other officers who’s names grace these pages. In these current times I stand proud and strong in the knowledge that I do so, shoulder to shoulder with the men and women, worldwide, who also have the courage to serve as a Law Enforcement Officer for their community.

My deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Corporal Jason E. Harwood. I will not forget his sacrifice and what he stood for, as a man, a husband, a father, a friend and as a LEO.

RIP, Cpl. Harwood. A friend of mine said I was so nice to go to the funeral of a man I never knew, and I told my friend, "Cpl. Harwood never knew me yet he protected me nonetheless." You will never be forgotten.
