"POLICEMAN'S PRAYER"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.
Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.
Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

Thank you for your service, god bless you and your family.

Ricky, was one of the good guys. I worked with him for five years at FBPD. I felt safe when we worked together knowing he had my back. Unfortunately, I lost contact with him when I transferred to another agency. Rest in peace buddy!

Uncle Ricky was my father's partner for the better part of his 26 year career, but more importantly he became a part of my family during that time. You would always know when Uncle Ricky was around because you would hear his laughter and everybody else’s laughter along with it. There was never a dull moment with that man. He was also a great role model. He was always willing to have Cadet/Explorer ride with him and help out with any special events we had going on, even if that meant giving up his own plans. Uncle Ricky was also a great competitor and very successful on the wrestling mat. Uncle Ricky won numerous medals at various police and fire games. He was a great father and husband and would always be there for his family no matter what the cost. He was loved by his co-workers as well, and they knew he would always be there for him. On top of all that he was loved by the community, which is hard to do in our profession, which he loved to serve. Aside from my father, Uncle Ricky was a big reason for why I wanted to be in Law Enforcement. Every time I go 10-8 (In-service), I will carry him with me and know that he has my back. Uncle Ricky, we will miss you down here, it will never be the same.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

THEIR SACRIFICE IS TREMENDOUS, AND IF THEY COULD, THEY WOULD TELL US

"I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above."

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO US ALL.

Deputy Del Florentino

Rest well in the arms of the Lord.

To your Family

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over three years. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.
