Reflections for Police Officer III Nicholas Choung Lee

I called your name and recited the Kaddish Prayer when the rabbi asked who was in mourning the day after they laid you to rest. I said your name and told colleagues about you while visiting the Alexandria PD and and FBI Headquarters on the day of your funeral, mourning band upon my ID. They tell me you started your career in our station. Know that you will never be forgotten and that your fellow employees, both sworn and civilian will continue to watch over your family. Be at peace warrior.

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Police Officer Nicholas Lee and the extended law enforcement family of the Los Angeles Police Department. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

By Jon F. Hooper

"Greater love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Police Officer III Nicholas Choung Lee,

When you made your decision to enter law enforcement you became blessed:

For the Lord said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9 ESV

When you responded to the infamous call for police service on Friday, March 7, 2014, you answered God's call to serve:

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 ESV

As a result, you sacrificed your life so that others might live and be protected:

"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV

I, along with your family, friends and comrades, will mourn your sacrifice and loss in the line of duty:

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 ESV

Now go! Rise up! And do battle against evil as an angel for the Lord!

In God's merciful love,

Pastor Steven R. Closs
Retired Captain of Police, Nashua Police Department, Nashua, NH

Police Officer III, Nicholas (Nick) Lee. I had the honor of meeting Nick in 2006 while working Vice. His great sense of humor and charisma had me hooked immediately. Rest in Peace my good friend, and partner. I was given the honor and privilege of being one of Nick's pallbearers. Nick's memory and legacy will live on through his global net of brothers and sisters in law enforcement, and of course through his family and close friends. God speed my friend, until we meet again. Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever.

Amen.
